UPDATE:
THIS COMPETITION IS NOW CLOSED.
We are delighted to announce that the winner of our first online competition to create 'A Quilled Frame' is Karen Hunziker, whose work is pictured here.
The Quilling Guild Fellows who judged this competition would like to commend all those members who entered and hope they will try again in future competitions. We also hope the following will be helpful to all who enter our competitions in producing a piece of work which is worthy of their skills and, therefore, a possible winning contender:
Karen had obviously read and taken on board all the points in the Guild’s Rules and Guidelines, especially ‘What the Judges are Looking For’
- She used only paper/card strips and glue
- Her work was careful, clean and accurate
- There were plenty of Quilling Guild accepted techniques
- Her piece was highly original, inspired and unusual.
Karen’s piece was also perceived to be, in a positive and intuitive way, pushing the usual boundaries of what is accepted in quilling. We really like to see and encourage quilling that is innovative and edgy.
Congratulations Karen!
Our next competition for Quilling Guild members will be announced very soon.
